North India
February 25, 2007In social studies class on Friday we watched a interesting movie on North India. In the movie we learned about Varanasi, the Ganges river, the Taj Mahal, Hindu ceremonies, Old Delhi, New Delhi, and Corbett National Park. First of all, the Ganges is in the Varanasi. Some people go to Varanasi to die in the Ganges river, Some people believe that if they die in the Ganges that they will meet the goddess of death, Sheeva. Also, people throw cremated animals and relatives into the Ganges. Next, we I will tell you about a big part of culture in the city of Agra. A big part of culture there is the Taj Mahal. The Taj Mahal is important because the fifth Shah in 1631 wanted to build it for his wife that died. It is now her tombstone and later on became the fifth Shah’s too. Did you know that the Taj Mahal took 20 years to build? It is now a wonderful tombstone to honor the Shah’s wife and him too. Did you know what karma means in Hindu? Karma means that what you do today will determine what you do tomorrow. This is said in their holy book, the Geta. There isn’t much of a difference between Old Delhi and New Delhi, but New Delhi is more modern. They both have/had alot of small hotels and sold/sell alot of different items. There is more to India that the items and hotels, there is Corbett National Park, founded by the man eating tiger hunter, Jean Corbett. This is one of the first established wildlife park for animals in India. After we finished watching our social studies I realised how different we are from India.
“Crude Awakening”
January 23, 2007The “Crude Awakening” article is about how much of the world’s oil supply is left. Some main points and facts are:
- Oil is the most important item traded between countries.
- 90% of the world’s transportation petroleum.
- That 90% also concerns thousands of products made from oil.
- Saudi Arabia has the most barrels of oil, 261 billion barrels.
- Mexico has the least barrels of oil, 15.7 billion barrles.
- The natural gas fields in Iran, Qatar, Russia, Turkmensistan could fuel the world for over 50 years.
If I had to guess when the world’s oil supply would run out I would guess about 400 years if we live the same way we do right now. I would guess this because if Iran, Qatar, Russia, and Turkmenistan could fuel the world for about 60 years, Saudi Arabia could fuel it for about 80 years also. After I added that I added other countries for about 150 years, then all the other countries for about 210 years as the most. Then I got about 400.
Is it worth it?
January 10, 2007
The new 30GB I-pod and 80GB I-pod have became very popular for people all over but do you think it is worth the price?Yes, they both can hold photos, music videos, movies, television shows, games, and music, but is it still worth the price? At The Apple Store the 30GB is $249.00 and the 80GB is $349.00, $100.00 more.
At Wal-Mart the 30GB is $248.44 and the 80GB is not listed.
At Radio Shack the 30GB is $249.99 and the 80GB is $349.99.
And last, at Best Buy the 30GB is $249.99 and the 80GB is not listed.

Information on the 30GB and 80GB I-pod- http://www.apple.com/ipod/ipod.html
With the information I got I do not think that either of them are worth the price, I was going to buy a 80GB with my Christmas money and savings and I didn’t have enough. I would rate this I-pod out of 1-10 i would rate it a 6 because my cousin got a 30GB and she had to ship it in to the Apple company in California to fix it 4 days after she got it. My aunt got a 80GB for her birthday and recommended it for it’s quality but it is not worth the price. What do you think? What would you rate it out of 1-10? 10 being the highest.

Why I prefer Elmo
January 10, 2007
I prefer Elmo over Tigger because Elmo is very optimistic, joyful, fun, caring, and overall he is cute. Today right before I posted this, this popped up on my computer, http://www.exclusivegiftsforyou.com/rd_p?p=154096&c=24173-egfy_elmotmz_emc_d32&a=283 Maybe in our 6th grade’s opinion Tigger is better, but around the world, apparently Elmo is one of the hottest toys, not the new “bouncy, trouncy, fun, fun, fun, fun, fun” Tigger toys.
Elmo has many songs, as you can go here and see the lyrics to some, you can see they are full of laughter and joy. http://members.tripod.com/Tiny_dancer/sselmo.html
Elmo photos, in some you can see how caring Elmo is. http://www.geocities.com/SouthBeach/Sands/4588/phindex.htm
Even though this song has nothing to do with Elmo, my dog likes it, here are some of the song on “Sesame Street.”http://music.barnesandnoble.com/search/mediaplayer.asp?ean=696998603028&disc=1&track=17
Although some Elmo toys like this one isn’t as well. You should read the reviews, this is why I am putting this up, the reviews state that Elmo is GREAT!!! Read them and search I’ll search a little more and post some more facts on why I prefer Elmo over Tigger.
Bridgee
November 21, 2006Bridgee was my cat. He was the best cat in the world because he never scratched anyone, was very playful, and friendly to everyone. Sadly, he died a few years ago from accidentally drinking gasoline along with my step-fathers cat Skunkee. Skunkee wasn’t very nice or friendly like Bridgee was. Here is the story about Bridgee, I came home from school one day. it was a regular day. But I got off the bus, saw my mom, looked over and saw Bridgee and Skunkee laying down next to each other (this is very weird considering that Skunkee is a mean cat, also hating Bridgee), my mother and I both noticed this immediately and ran over to them. When we got closer we noticed they were throwing up. My step-father rushed both of them to the veterinarian and we found out that they were drinking gasoline. After a few weeks of being at an animal hospital they both sadly passed away over night. I loved Bridgee and I wish he was still here.
Below is what Bridgee looked like.

My kitty Mirtle
November 20, 2006My kitty Mirtle is 6 years old. I got Mirtle when he was a 3 month old kitten. He is black and white and looks like a cow. He isn’t as playful as he was when he was younger but still likes to play. But now he likes to play with things that aren’t kitty toys. He likes to play with feathers, beads, and animals. By animals I mean that he goes outside and gets them from trees. Recently Mirtle was in a tree and there was another cat at night, Mirtle and that cat were fighting over a bird and got scratched. I love my kitty alot. Fortunetly he didn’t get hurt so bad, he just got a few scratches.
Below is a picture that sort of looks like him.
